Here at UNSW College, every application we receive is carefully considered. Students will receive an offer to the relevant program based on their academic and English test results.


The entry requirements below should be considered as a guide only, and are subject to change. If your qualification does not appear here, please contact Admissions for assistance.

Is my country/region recognised as English-speaking?

UNSW recognises the following countries/regions as English-speaking: American Samoa, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Canada, Fiji, Gibraltar, Ghana, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, The Gambia, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, United Kingdom (including Northern Ireland), United States of America, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

English Entry Requirements for UNSW degrees

Before starting a UNSW undergraduate or postgraduate degree, you will need to have reached a minimum level of English language proficiency. 

Depending on your level of English, you may need to study an Academic English Program. These range between 10 and 30 weeks of additional English language tuition in our University English Entry Course and Essential Academic English course. Alternative English test results accepted due to COVID-19

The following tests will be accepted for UNSW College programs until further notice:

 

  • IELTS Indicator and TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition will have the same entry requirements as those set for IELTS Academic and TOEFL iBT. 
  • Duolingo English Test results will be considered on a case-by-case basis for students affected by COVID-19
  • English language test scores and prior studies in English (including High School) will be accepted for tests completed no more than
    • Three years before the intended start date in Foundation Studies or Diploma Program
    • Two years before the intended start date in an Academic English Program
