    • (Leading to 8543 Master of Information Technology or 8338 Master of Engineering Science)

      Successful completion of a recognised bachelor's degree equivalent to an Australian degree in a STEM discipline or cognate discipline with at least three mathematics courses and 50% average

      OR

      Successful completion of Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in a STEM discipline with at least three mathematics courses and 50% average.

    • (Leading to 8621 - Master of Engineering)

      Successful completion of a recognised 4-year bachelor's degree equivalent to an Australian degree in Engineering in a cognate discipline and 50% average

      OR

      Successful completion of a recognised 3-year bachelor's degree equivalent to an Australian degree in Engineering Science in a cognate discipline from a university accredited under the Washington Accord and 50% average

      OR

      Successful completion of Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Engineering and 50% average.

  • All applicants must meet the UNSW College English requirements. Applicants will be deemed to have satisfied the English language requirements if they can provide evidence that they meet one or more of the following criteria:

    You may need to submit results from an acceptable English language test taken in the last two years prior to starting at UNSW. The following is a summary of key English Language tests accepted for entry into the Pre-Masters program:

    Prior Study

    UNSW College accepts prior studies completed in English to meet our English language requirements depending on whether you are from an English-speaking* background or non-English speaking background.

    English-speaking background:

    • Citizens of English-speaking countries, or
    • Permanent Residents of English-speaking countries, or
    • Minimum of ten years in an English-speaking country and completed tertiary education in an English-speaking country.

    International students applying for a student visa are advised to check with the Department of Home Affairs for English requirements that may apply to the student visa application.

    Students who do not meet the English language entry requirements will be given the opportunity to undertake a UNSW College University English Entry Course (UEEC) of 10 to 20 weeks, to meet the requirement. This opportunity will be made at the offer stage, to those students who do not meet the English Language entry requirements.

  • If a student has an:

    (a) IELTS >= 6.0 and < 6.5

    • The Pre-Masters course PMAE9004 - Academic English for Higher Studies must be undertaken. Successful completion of this course meets the English Language entry requirement of the specified UNSW master’s degree.

    (b) IELTS >= 6.5

    • One of the following electives must be undertaken: EGED9005 - Economics Decisions in Engineering OR COMP9006 - Principles of Programming, with the elective dependent upon the student’s intended UNSW master’s degree.
